The Big Knit

The blog has been sadly neglected in place of Facebook which I find  so much easier to do. However I have decided to use the blog as a series of post cards to let you see what we've been doing or or going to do - so here goes.

First of all we still have places left on our crocheted bunting course in the shop next Saturday 24th August.  The class will start of with a reminder of the basic crochet stitches and then move onto learning how to increase and decrease while making crocheted triangles to start you off on a bunting addiction. Then we will move onto following a pattern to make these fantastic crocheted hearts - ideal for decorations for a wedding or Valentines day.

Reserve your place by phoning the shop on 01661 830671 Tuesday to Saturday.

Use up all those tiny scraps of yarn in your stash by joining in The Big Knit in support of Age UK. Full details and free patterns here.

Drop your finished bottle hats into the shop and we will send them on to Innocent.

Crocheted Bunting – Hearts and Triangles

Crocheted Bunting – Hearts and Triangles

Last Saturday we held our first Crocheted Bunting class in the shop.

Taught by the lovely Helen this class was for those who are more confident of the basic stitches and comfortable with a crochet hook.

While crocheting the triangle bunting our lovely ladies learned how to increase and decrease in crochet

and the crocheted heart bunting was made by following a pattern  to increase confidence with the teacher on hand to sort out any little hiccups

And Amanda really loves the heart she has made - the first of many to decorate at a vintage themed wedding.

If you would like to give this class a try – look out for our next crochet classes advertised on Facebook and Twitter .

Learn a new skill

Want to learn a new skill?- Learn to crochet.  We have a crochet class for beginners in the shop on Saturday from 10.00am to 12.30pm and lots more coming soon.

Over the last few weeks we have taught over 20 lovely ladies the art of crochet. This is a small selection of Helen's bits and pieces she has made recently. These small pretty things can be used as a brooch to brighten up a jacket or as coasters on your table.
These little things are easy to pick up when you have just a few minutes.

Joanne has just recently learned to crochet and made this cute beanie hat for her granddaughter in sparkly Ella yarn with a matching silver flower.

Then when you get a bit more experienced you can try something like this lovely Debbie bliss retro chic top in a shell stitch pattern. When I met Lisa for the first time – I was immediately drawn to her crocheted top.

Happy knitting and happy crocheting too xx

Oodles of baby knits

Saturday's charity knitting day was a great success. Lots of ladies joined us to knit the knitted knotted hats for the baby hand knit sale at Hexham General hospital in support of the Iolanthe Midwifery trust. You can find out more about the trust here. We raised over £120.00

All week knitters have continued to bring in gorgeous knitted baby clothes which I have passed on the Brenda when she jogged past today on her training session for the London Marathon.

And here we are all in action on Saturday - Brenda is caught in a rare moment sitting still on the right side of the picture - but she is still knitting.
